Full-Time Assistant Store Manager,

Pay

Starting Wage: $25.00 per hour
Year 2 Wage Increase: $26.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Assists the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
• Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
• Identifies training and development opportunities for direct reports to enhance performance
• Communicates and models the core values of the organization to foster teamwork
• Monitors the competitive environment and informs leadership of necessary adjustments
• Provides product feedback, including recommendations for new or discontinued items
• Participates in the interviewing process for store personnel
• Communicates weekly information, milestones, developments, and concerns
• Ensures adherence to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies
• Resolves operational customer concerns in the direct leader’s absence
• Identifies and rectifies hazards, maintains store equipment, and ensures proper ergonomics
• Maintains store cleanliness standards and proper signage
• Assists with maintaining proper stock levels through appropriate product ordering
• Merchandises product neatly to maximize sales
• Ensures quality, freshness, and accuracy of product signage
• Assists with achieving store payroll, total loss budget, inventory counts, and training new employees
• Supervises day-to-day operations, escalating issues as needed
• Ensures direct reports complete responsibilities to provide high-level customer service
• Complies with all established company policies and procedures while upholding security and confidentiality
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• Ability to stock merchandise, including lifting up to 45 pounds and placing product on shelving at various heights
• Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk about the store
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Ability to provide and lead others in prompt and courteous customer service
• Ability to develop rapport, trust, and open communication with direct reports
• Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
• Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance
• Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others
• Understanding of management principles concerning budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses
• Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately
• Ability to safely operate equipment, including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and follow instructions
• Meets state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment
• A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
• Prior management experience preferred
