Full-Time Assistant Grocery Manager

About the Role

The Grocery Manager-in-Training will develop the skills and knowledge to oversee grocery department operations, guest service, merchandising, and sales performance. They will assume Department Manager duties in their absence.

Responsibilities

• Ensure friendly, polite guest service from staff.
• Achieve sales, profit, and wage targets.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels and supplies.
• Operate according to merchandising and operational standards.
• Ensure product quality, sanitation, and safety compliance.
• Train and guide staff to meet performance standards.
• Perform stocking, guest service, and staffing tasks.
• Control shrink and ensure proper pricing and scanning.
• Maintain backroom organization and inventory readiness.
• Coordinate with management on product levels and vendor relations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Friendly, outgoing personality with strong communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others and supervise staff.
• Physical ability to lift 40 lbs. consistently and 60 lbs. occasionally.
• 1-3 years of supermarket experience.
• Capacity to learn multiple tasks and technical skills.
• Effective guest service, selling, and training abilities.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, push/pull carts, and operate equipment for extended periods.
