Full Time Asset Protection Associate

About the role

The Asset Protection Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our associates and customers and securing Scheels' assets while demonstrating professional asset protection standards. This individual will deter criminal activity by adhering to facility security measures, working closely with corporate risk management leaders to ensure company safety practices are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with leadership regarding encounters and investigations.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with local authorities and law enforcement agencies.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other local retailers to identify organized retail crime threats.
  • Assist leadership with cash handling and transfers.
  • Observe customers and associates for potential acts of theft or fraud.
  • Address external theft concerns through uniform presence, strategic methods, and apprehending shoplifters according to company policy and ethical standards.
  • Monitor video via CCTV and conduct on-site interviews.
  • Document incidents by creating objective and thorough reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all apprehension and investigation records according to company standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and use of CCTV surveillance equipment.
  • Assist in monitoring store compliance with company policies and procedures relating to theft deterrence, safety, and operational controls.
  • Maintain a highly visible deterrent to crime and positively influence the security incident rate; assist with inventory controls.
  • Help mitigate security risks to provide a safer environment for employees and customers.
  • Welcome all customers, visitors, and vendors professionally, and assist them in locating staff within the stores.
  • Issue electric handicapped shopping carts to customers and assist in obtaining wheelchairs and shopping carts.
  • Examine and properly tag property brought into the stores, including personal property, equipment for service, and firearms.
  • Patrol facilities and parking areas on foot; direct traffic during special events or heavy customer traffic while enforcing parking regulations.
  • Make regularly scheduled floor and exterior walks to ensure the safety and security of customers and the facility.
  • Complete monthly reports on safe or non-safe practices found on the sales floor or backstocks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; college graduate preferred.
  • Proven track record of strong communication and organization skills.
  • Preference for candidates with prior Loss Prevention experience (2-3 years).
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays; must be available a minimum of every other weekend.
  • Average hours per week is 40 hours.
