7.50 Hours/Day (7:30 am-3:00 pm), Monday-Friday, 185 Days/Year

Minimum Hourly Salary: $25.59

Purpose Of Position

The goal of Job Training Services is to teach job skills, social awareness, and work ethics for empowering students to gain and maintain independence as they transition to adult life.

Requirements

• Education: Meets one of the following four qualifications (effective July 1, 2010):
  • Completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study with a minimum of 48 credit hours. Copy of transcript required within 30 days of employment.
  • Possess an associate degree or higher. Copy of degree or transcripts required within 30 days of employment.
  • Completed the Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators through the PA Department of Education. A copy of the credential must be submitted within 30 days of hire.
• Provide evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to position each school year (pro-rated based on hire date).
• Minimum of two years' general experience in the workplace; experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification desired.
• Satisfactory driving record for the past 3 years.
• Valid PA driver's license.
• Valid vehicle registration, inspection/emissions, and insurance.
• Ability to use personal vehicle for work-related assignments.

Skills

• Demonstrated competency in interpersonal relationships with adults and students.
• Knowledge of the local job market and employment trends.
• Familiarity with social service agencies that support post-secondary needs (e.g., Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Goodwill).
• Ability to recognize and document employability skills of students and provide appropriate job matches.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.

Essential Physical Requirements

• The strength and ability to lift and/or assist in lifting students ranging in age from pre-school to twenty-one and any assistive appliances (e.g., wheelchair).
• Ability to physically restrain students in emotional stress using Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI), Safe Crisis Management (SCM), or Quality Behavior Supports (QBS) methods (training provided).
• Ability to run/sprint after or to an eloping child.
• Ability to help a learner off the floor should they drop to the floor under their own power.
