About the Role
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) supports the Occupational Therapist in implementing resident-specific treatment plans.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct treatment to patients in accordance with the established plan of care developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Maintains effective time management and required productivity level according to daily schedule.
- Implements intervention plans, including ADL training, based on the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
- Assists with gathering objective data for Section GG collection during Annual, Quarterly, Falls, and Significant Change assessments.
- Executes assigned screens for residents.
- Actively participates in program development and clinical programming.
- Identifies best practices for Occupational Therapy practice and shares with the Rehab Team.
- Observes residents' performance and reports any changes or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of resident progress and interventions provided.
- Demonstrates comfort and knowledge with Point of Service (POS) care delivery and documentation.
- Maintains detailed and up-to-date documentation of resident evaluations, treatment plans, daily and progress notes, and HMO/Managed care progress updates in EMRs (Net Health/PCC).
- Educates residents, family members, and care staff on safe techniques and exercises for continued progress.
- Collaborates with nursing and other rehab staff, including Physical Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to provide comprehensive care.
- Attends and contributes to patient care plan meetings.
Qualifications
- Must be COTA certified.
