About the role
This role is an experienced individual contributor who owns features from requirements through production delivery and plays a critical role in improving system reliability, performance, and engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern 3-tier web applications across front-end, back-end, and data layers
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs, system integrations, and reusable services
- Translate business requirements into clear, maintainable technical solutions
- Deliver complex features end-to-end, including development, automated testing, deployment, and validation
- Make informed technical decisions that balance long-term maintainability with business needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with a focus on root-cause analysis
- Collaborate closely with product owners, QA, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering practices and standards
- Support cloud-based deployments, performance tuning, and scalability initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field. Equivalent experience or relevant certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 4+ years of professional web development experience
- Strong hands-on experience with: Java, EJB, and API development; Angular and TypeScript; Writing optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and working with relational databases
- Ability to read/parse JSON and XML, and write unit/integration tests
- Experience with Git and modern version-control workflows
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and cybersecurity standards
- Ability to work across the full software development lifecycle
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments
- Background in insurance or financial services
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or automated deployments
- Experience with NestJS and Node.js
