Full Stack Software Engineer (Equity)
We are a fast-growing marketplace technology company based in Brooklyn, NY. With over 10 years in business, we doubled our revenue last year and continue to scale. Our mission-driven team collaborates closely and genuinely enjoys the work we do.
About the role
We are looking for a pragmatic Full Stack Software Engineer to own and ship end-to-end product features across frontend and backend systems. You will work closely with product and design to build high-quality, scalable web experiences—shipping from 0 to 1 and beyond. This role emphasizes TypeScript, Next.js, and Python, and offers equity in the company. Ideal candidates are comfortable across the stack, care about great UX and reliable services, and can move quickly in a small, collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement user-facing features using Next.js and TypeScript, delivering production-ready pages and components.
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Python (and optionally Go), ensuring security, performance, and reliability.
- Take ownership of the full development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration.
- Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to define requirements, scope trade-offs, and ship valuable increments quickly—especially during 0 to 1 initiatives.
- Write automated tests and E2E suites (Cypress or Playwright) to ensure product quality and prevent regressions.
- Deploy and operate services on platforms such as Vercel and Kubernetes; contribute to CI/CD pipelines and observability.
- Integrate marketplace or commerce functionality and related third-party services when required.
- Prototype and iterate on AI or ML-powered experiences in collaboration with data teams or external APIs.
- Document architecture and engineering decisions, mentor teammates, and participate in code reviews to raise team standards.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, optimize performance, and plan for scalability and maintainability.
Qualifications
- Proven experience building production applications with TypeScript and Next.js.
- Strong backend experience with Python and building/consuming APIs (REST or GraphQL); familiarity with Go is a plus.
- Experience writing and maintaining automated tests and E2E suites (Cypress or Playwright preferred).
- Experience deploying modern web apps on Vercel and/or Kubernetes; comfortable working with CI/CD and cloud-native tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to work across the full stack and ship features end-to-end in fast-paced environments, including early-stage (0 to 1) product development.
- Experience or interest in marketplace/commerce systems and integrating payment or listing flows is a plus.
- Familiarity with JavaScript fundamentals, frontend performance optimization, and accessibility best practices.
- Interest or experience in AI-driven features or integrations is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate cross-functionally, and a bias for action; BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
