Full-Stack Software Developer (React / TypeScript) – AI CoE
Asymmetry Group is a small yet rapidly growing strategy consulting firm – included for the third year in a row on the 2025 Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in the US and named an Inc. Best Workplaces 2025 firm – that helps the world’s leading biotechnology, digital health, and medical device companies commercialize innovative therapeutics and technologies. Our clients range from early-stage Series A companies to $100B+ market cap biopharmaceutical companies. We are proud that all of the clients we serve have requested follow-on work.
Asymmetry was acquired in October 2025 by the Danforth Health family of companies that collectively serve biopharmaceutical clients from inception through commercialization of products via a broad set of capabilities and offerings. To help every company in the family work smarter – and to deliver more for the clients they serve – Danforth has established an AI Center of Excellence: a shared, cross-company team that builds software and AI-enabled tools for both internal use across Danforth and as client-facing products and web applications delivered to our clients. This role sits within Asymmetry Group but is scoped to work across Danforth Health.
About the role
We’re seeking a full-time Full-Stack Developer with strong React and TypeScript experience – including comfort working server-side with Next.js – to join the AI Center of Excellence, reporting directly to the Head of the AI Center of Excellence. This is a firm-wide role that spans all of Danforth: rather than sitting within a single business, you’ll partner with teams from across the family of companies – including Asymmetry Group and our sister companies including finance, regulatory, clinical, commercial, and communications – to build two kinds of software:
- Internal tools and AI capabilities that make our teams more effective
- Client-facing products and web applications that we design, build, and deliver for our clients
Depending on the day, week, or month, you might be building an internal tool that automates a manual workflow with a large language model (LLM), developing a client-facing web application to support a breakthrough Phase 3 asset, or standing up a data dashboard that a client’s launch team relies on. We’re looking for a highly motivated, proactive builder who is passionate about applying technology and AI to healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain full-stack web applications – both internal tools used across the Danforth family of companies and client-facing products delivered to our clients – across the front end and server side using React, TypeScript, and Next.js
- Build interactive dashboards, data visualizations, and AI-enabled features – including large language model (LLM) integrations – that turn firm and client data into clear, actionable insights
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and help establish the shared standards, reusable components, and best practices of the AI Center of Excellence; participate in code reviews and collaborate through Git
- Partner with stakeholders across Danforth’s operating companies to understand their needs, and support internal initiatives such as improving our engineering practices and tooling, onboarding new members of the firm, and planning internal lunch & learns
- Support communication with clients and stakeholders by drafting updates, demos, and messages for review; over time, take on more direct client-facing communication
- Participate in internal and client meetings, including stand-ups and planning sessions, capturing notes, key takeaways, and next steps to keep the team aligned
- Support project management by tracking key tasks and milestones to help the team stay organized and aligned; manage multiple priorities and proactively communicate progress and updates
- Assist or lead ad hoc technical research – whether evaluating a new library, framework, or approach to a tricky problem
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline – computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 2–5 years of professional software development experience
- Hands-on experience building full-stack web applications with React and TypeScript
- Deep intellectual curiosity (constantly ask “why” – and then go figure it out)
- Comfort brainstorming, implementing, and iterating solutions for loosely structured problems
- Flexible and adaptable team player willing to play many different roles and embraces change
- Self-starter mentality, willing to identify and take on new opportunities and challenges
- Proficient across the full stack – HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React on the front end, plus building and consuming REST APIs and server-side logic, and version control with Git
- Strong oral & written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates local to the Boston area (hybrid work model based out of our office in Newton, MA with clients in Boston, Metrowest, across the US and overseas). Opportunities may exist to work out of our New York City or greater Philadelphia area office, and remote work may be an option for exceptional candidates
- Server-side experience with Next.js (API routes, server components, server actions)
- Experience with our broader stack: Node.js, Tailwind CSS, testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library), CI/CD, and cloud platforms such as AWS
- Exposure to AI/LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) or experience building AI-enabled features
Benefits
- Meaningful work delivering high-quality, pragmatic solutions to innovative healthcare companies
- Small, collegial organization with a supportive culture and hybrid work policy
- Individualized career development and growth opportunities
- Industry-competitive salary and bonus
- 401k, healthcare, dental, and vision benefits
- Flexible time-off policy
Pay
The annualized salary range for this role is between $150,000 – $175,000, plus an incentive bonus. The actual base pay offered may vary based on role-related qualifications such as skills, knowledge, total experience, and education.
