Full Stack Engineer - Cascadience

About the role

Cascadience, a VIABILITY Company, is building Volio, an innovative AI-powered digital companion designed to support neurodivergent individuals, including people with ADHD, Autism, and Anxiety. Volio is evolving into an engaging student companion that combines AI-powered support, intelligent scheduling, long-term memory, and gamified experiences to help reduce cognitive overload and support independence. This is a unique opportunity to join a startup initiative backed by a 56‑year established organization. As a Full Stack Engineer, you’ll help build and scale the technology behind Volio while working closely with product, operations, marketing, and external partners. Position is remote (EST time zone), full‑time salaried exempt.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain our Python/FastAPI backend running on AWS ECS Fargate.
• Develop and improve AI-powered multi-agent workflows using Amazon Bedrock and LangGraph.
• Build and optimize RAG pipelines and long-term semantic memory.
• Develop mobile features using React Native, Flutter, or native iOS/Android technologies.
• Create lightweight 2D gamification and student progression features.
• Integrate GPS/geolocation functionality for school and class-related experiences.
• Design and maintain data models across PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and MongoDB Atlas.
• Contribute to AWS infrastructure, Terraform, and secure cloud architecture.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Support mobile releases through Apple App Store Connect and Google Play.
• Monitor application performance using tools such as New Relic, OpenTelemetry, and AWS X-Ray.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to Turn Ideas Into Accessible, Reliable Products.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production applications, APIs, or mobile applications.
• Strong experience with Python and preferably FastAPI.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD automation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Genuine interest in accessibility, inclusion, and technology that improves people's lives.

Skills

• Prior experience with any of the following is a plus: LangGraph, LangChain, Amazon Bedrock, or OpenAI
