Full Stack Engineer
About the role
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to design and build the Nash portal: the surface where operators see the autonomic system at work.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship features end to end across the stack, from the React and TypeScript portal operators rely on every shift, to the Python services and APIs that power it.
- Translate logistics problems into products. Partner with PM, design, and operations to turn messy real-world workflows into interfaces and systems that fit how customers actually run their business.
- Contribute to system design and architectural decisions across the platform, balancing reliability, security, and scalability against the speed the business needs.
- Write clean, well-tested code, drive thoughtful code reviews, and raise the bar on engineering standards across the team.
- Debug and resolve production issues across frontend and backend, with the automated tests and observability that catch problems before customers do.
- Build responsive, high-performance interfaces with a sharp eye for latency, loading and error states, and the edge cases that decide whether an operator trusts the product.
Requirements
- 4+ years building and shipping full-stack web applications in production.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems is a plus.
- Strong React skills (or equivalent modern frameworks), with deep working knowledge of TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and component-driven architecture.
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks.
- Experience designing and working with GraphQL and RESTful APIs, relational databases (PostgreSQL), and familiarity with NoSQL stores.
- Comfort working in microservices or service-oriented architectures.
- Solid system design, coding, and testing skills on both sides of the stack.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern deployment practices.
Qualifications
- Product sense and craft. You care about how things feel, not just whether they work.
- A strong communicator who collaborates well across product, design, operations, and data, and can drive ambiguous problems to a clear outcome.
- High agency in a fast-paced environment.
- Mentorship instincts: experience growing other engineers through reviews, pairing, or technical leadership is a plus.
- Strong preference for the Bay Area. Nash runs a hybrid-first product team out of our San Francisco office.
Skills
- Experience with Flask, SQLAlchemy, or WebSockets (a plus).
- Prior startup experience (not required).
Benefits
The Nash portal is how the world’s largest retailers, grocers, and pharmacies actually run their logistics: where every order is visible, every delivery in motion is tracked, and every route optimization plays out in front of the team responsible for it. The portal you build will be the daily home base for dispatchers, operators, and merchant teams, on the day a normal Tuesday stays quiet, and on the day a storm closes half the routes. A better portal means better decisions, faster recoveries, and more promises kept.
Pay
Competitive compensation and opportunity for equity.
Schedule
Flexibility to work remotely or in-person in the San Francisco area.
