Full Stack Developer – Risk Consulting

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to support client-facing risk consulting initiatives. This developer will design, build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable applications using the MERN stack, SQL, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, develop, code, test, debug, and maintain full-stack applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js, JavaScript, and SQL.
• Develop small technical modules and application enhancements that meet business, performance, security, and quality requirements.
• Build complex SQL queries and support database design, data integration, migration, and reporting requirements.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain applications within AWS using services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
• Support application and data migrations while maintaining data integrity, system availability, and performance.
• Develop custom data analytics solutions that help clients evaluate risk, insurance, claims, and operational information.
• Collaborate with lead developers, analysts, consultants, and other stakeholders to develop and communicate project plans.
• Participate in client discussions and translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Support technical solutioning and presentations for Marsh clients.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve coding defects and application performance issues.
• Provide technical support to clients and internal teams, including assistance with escalated help desk issues.
• Analyze technical support trends and recommend system improvements to senior team members.
• Manage source code using Git, including branching, merging, code reviews, and pull requests.
• Follow and promote software development best practices related to code quality, testing, documentation, security, and version control.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor to analysts and developers.
• Use AI-powered development tools responsibly to improve programming efficiency, testing, documentation, and delivery speed.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to development processes and system performance.

Requirements

• Six or more years of professional full-stack web development experience, preferably within the 6–10-year range.
• Strong hands-on experience with the MERN stack:
  • MongoDB
  • Express.js
  • React.js
  • Node.js
• Advanced JavaScript development experience.
• Strong SQL experience, including complex queries, relational database design, optimization, and data migrations.
• Practical experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS.
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
• Strong knowledge of Git and collaborative version-control workflows.
• Experience with application migrations, integrations, or data-conversion projects.
• Demonstrated understanding of software development best practices, including testing, debugging, documentation, security, and code reviews.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to clients and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Experience providing technical support, guidance, or mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Experience with TypeScript or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve software delivery.
• Previous consulting or client-facing technology experience.
• Experience developing custom dashboards, reporting tools, or data analytics solutions.
• Knowledge of insurance, claims, risk management, or financial services.
• Experience supporting technical solutioning, demonstrations, or client presentations.

Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 months, with possible extension
