About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Developer with a backend emphasis to join our dynamic team supporting the Mobility Air Force's command and control systems. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical backend services primarily using Java and .NET frameworks. You will play a pivotal role in building secure, scalable, and reliable RESTful APIs and integrating them with cloud-native architectures in Amazon GovCloud. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of microservices, serverless computing, and containerization to deliver robust backend solutions. Operating within an Agile environment, you will mentor junior developers, contribute to DevSecOps pipelines, and ensure secure deployment practices are followed. Your expertise will help enhance system performance, security, and data integrity, supporting critical defense operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy backend features using Java and .NET within AWS GovCloud environments
  • Build and optimize RESTful APIs, ensuring security, scalability, and performance
  • Architect and implement microservices, serverless functions, and containerized workloads leveraging AWS services
  • Create and maintain data models, SQL queries, and relational database operations
  • Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and backlog refinement sessions
  • Conduct code reviews, refactor existing backend components, and implement best practices for maintainability and security
  • Integrate backend services into CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, build, and security scans
  • Ensure adherence to secure coding standards and interpret output from static and dynamic security analysis tools
  • Automate operational and deployment tasks using scripting languages like Python and Bash
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues across application logic, integrations, data stores, and cloud resources
  • Mentor junior developers in API design, backend architecture, and security best practices

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, including at least 3 years with Java
  • Proven experience owning backend services or components in production environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. government security clearance (Secret level required, must have the ability to obtain Security+ certification)
  • Prior experience working within DoD or federal security compliance environments (preferred)
  • Deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks) and .NET (Core or Framework)
  • Strong understanding of REST API design, versioning, and testing strategies
  • Hands-on experience deploying backend services in AWS, including Lambda, ECS, ECR, CloudFormation, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM
  • Proficiency with microservice architectures and containerization technologies such as Docker
  • Solid debugging skills in distributed and cloud-based systems
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and Bash for automation
