Full Stack Developer - DHS

About the role

As a Full Stack Developer, you will build systems that have a positive impact on the defense of our country by creating complete end-to-end solutions in a fast-paced, agile environment. You’ll work with a dynamic suite of technologies to develop software from vision to production, modernizing several applications for a Federal Government client using React, Java Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Work within development teams to build, foster, and maintain leading-edge engineering practices.
• Create the design and implementation for the overall architecture of the solution.
• Implement a robust set of services and APIs to power digital products.
• Develop software solutions for databases, user interfaces, and web services.
• Conceptualize software solutions to address customer needs.
• Evaluate and propose platforms and coding standards for project development.
• Assess existing software solutions to identify areas for improvement.
• Guide the modernization of existing software to upgrade performance or re-platform to an AWS environment.
• Provide project governance across the enterprise.

Requirements

• DHS Public Trust clearance required.
• 4+ years of experience in Full Stack Agile SDLC software development projects.
• Professional experience developing applications with Java, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and related Java technologies.
• Application development experience with libraries such as Spring, Hibernate, JUnit, and Apache Maven.
• Knowledge of creating single-page applications using frameworks/libraries like React or Angular.
• Experience creating RESTful web services.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Experience with microservices and agile development methodologies.
• Excellent knowledge of software and application design, architecture, UML, and other modeling methods.
• Familiarity with UI/UX design and software quality assurance principles.
• Strong technical mindset with great attention to detail.
• Experience providing strategic technical consulting to senior Federal customers.
• Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) to a wide range of stakeholders.

Desired Skills

• Experience in DevOps using industry tools such as Jenkins and AWS DevOps.
• Effective management of multiple simultaneous projects.
• Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
