About the role
Vitesse Systems is seeking a Full Stack and Systems Engineer to join our team in Webster, Texas. We are an engineering firm deeply rooted in the high-tech fields of space and robotics, dedicated to enabling our clients to drive technological change through robotics, automation, and electrification.
Responsibilities
- Exercise a high degree of responsibility for the processes, systems, and tools you create and manage
- Design, develop, test, and maintain full stack web applications
- Build responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces
- Develop scalable back-end APIs, services, and data models
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, system, and integration issues
- Write clean, maintainable code and enforce best practices
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and system architecture
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements
- Maintain, procure, upgrade, and optimize IT systems, infrastructure, and services
- Manage deployment of applications and services between testing, staging, and production environments
- Aid onsite and remote staff in solving computer issues and network problems
- Maintain IT compliance for industry and government contracts
- Set up systems for new employees and assist with onboarding
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage external contractors to help architect and develop custom ERP tools, modules, and applications
- Manage change requests from users for ERP customizations and plan development of new features
- Create documentation and instructions as required to perform upgrades and new software rollouts
- Support company website modifications and maintenance
- Be technically excellent, accountable for your work, and responsible for deadlines
- Constantly strive to improve your own technical skills, company processes, and be willing to both teach and learn from your peers
Qualifications & Experience
- B.S. in computer information systems, computer science, related degree field or 5+ years industry experience as an IT systems administrator or similar position
- 10+ years in full-stack software development
- Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue)
- Strong experience with back-end development (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or similar)
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Solid understanding of relational or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Familiarity with application deployment and CI/CD pipelines
- Advanced knowledge and the ability to setup, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux based systems
- MS Office 365 Suite Administrator (Exchange/Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams)
- Programming experience using Python
- Networking experience in IPv4, switching, routing, and firewalls
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to communicate with internal/external customers, vendors, management etc. in both formal and informal situations
- Motivation to learn whatever knowledge you are missing to get the job done right
- Ability to work well on a team, to be deliverable focused, and to take full responsibility for individual tasks which may be open ended
- Odoo module development, customization, and troubleshooting, preferred but not required
- Experience with ERP systems or business process automation tools, preferred but not required
- Knowledge of authentication mechanisms and security best practices, preferred but not required
- Experience with testing frameworks and automated testing, preferred but not required
- Exposure to DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code, preferred but not required
- UI/UX design awareness and front-end performance optimization, preferred but not required
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and services, preferred but not required
- SQL and relational database design and management, preferred but not required
- JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, preferred but not required
