About the Role

This is a working leadership position providing support to transportation with dispatch operations, lead training, and maintaining production standards. You will collaborate across departments—including logistics, COP, corporate, vendors, dispatch, retail, and drivers—to uphold company standards and customer service. The role involves handling daily functions, resolving issues, and leading projects under the direction of, or in the absence of, the Transportation Supervisor or Manager.

Responsibilities

• Support and assist with dispatch office activities.
• Provide store directions and assist in trailer inventory and yard monitoring.
• Coordinate retail deliveries with backhauls, for-hire loads, mixing center loads, and DC-to-DC transfers.
• Recommend process or procedural modifications to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards for accuracy, safety, and productivity.
• Handle phone calls from store personnel, vendors, and partners regarding service issues and special requests.
• Evaluate load coordination to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
• Work with the Corporate Fleet Manager on trailer inventory, utilization, tractor replacement, non-movement reporting, and tracking.
• Collaborate with other facility departments to maintain overall production standards.
• Occasional overnight travel and flexibility in work schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Knowledge of DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, as well as Transportation Logistics.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 70 lbs.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of warehouse and transportation systems.
