About the Role

Hannaford Supermarkets started out as a fresh produce vendor in Portland, Maine in 1883, and remains deeply connected to those roots as a local market. This role ensures department appearance, quality, variety, safety, and food safety are consistently maintained at the highest level while supporting Hannaford’s strategy. You’ll build customer relationships, provide enthusiastic customer awareness, and contribute to a strong team culture.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers with locating and selecting products.
• Perform assigned stocking, culling, and rotation procedures following established guidelines.
• Prepare (trim, crisp, package, scale, etc.) all products according to quality standards.
• Perform all assigned cleaning functions in line with company policy.
• Adhere to the highest product quality standards to support department strategy.
• Achieve productivity standards as outlined in Management Planning.
• Develop product knowledge across various areas of the department.
• Share recognition of accomplishments and reflect key behaviors: Be There, Make It Easy, Add Something To Their Day, and Be the Difference.
• Assist in training other associates and perform additional functions as assigned.

Requirements

• Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team environment.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements.
• Must meet minimum age requirements.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 50 lb. at least 80% of the time and 75 lb. occasionally.
• Reach to shoulder level or above while lifting 30 lbs. on occasion.
• Stand and walk 100% of the time.
• Meet volume activity standards established for the department.
• Frequent bending, reaching, grasping, and lifting produce items at or above waist level.
• Use hands to feel objects, open boxes/cases, or prepare and clean produce.
• Handle cleaning materials, packaging, and food products.
• Tolerate working in cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Pay

Salary range: $15.10 – $19.65 per hour.
