FT Produce Lead

Hannaford Supermarkets started out as a fresh produce vendor in Portland, Maine in 1883, and remains connected to those roots as a local market. The company actively seeks out farmers and producers to join its Local program, celebrating local foods, farmland preservation, local traditions, and jobs. Hannaford was the first major U.S. supermarket to document that all its seafood products were sustainably harvested.

Responsibilities

• Lead department operations in the absence of the department manager and assistant department manager, following established standard practices.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and government regulations.
• Utilize retail store systems, including Management Planning, Scheduling, CAO, and RF Unit.
• Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect.
• Meet or exceed all applicable Management Planning guidelines.
• Develop produce product knowledge and assist in training other associates when assigned.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance in compliance with company policy.
• Maintain solid communication within the department and across the organization.
• Support company safety standards and report any needed equipment repairs or maintenance.
• Keep work areas free from debris and safety hazards.
• Observe and maintain company sanitation and food safety standards.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills to meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of produce associates as assigned by management.
• Use good judgment in delegating, assigning, and following up for efficient department performance.
• Greet and assist customers with locating and selecting products.
• Perform stocking, culling, and rotation procedures according to established guidelines.
• Prepare (trim, crisp, package, scale, etc.) all products according to established standards and quality goals.
• Maintain accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
• Receive produce deliveries, rotate stock, and store products appropriately.
• Perform all assigned cleaning functions in accordance with company policy.
• Adhere to the highest product quality standards to support department strategy.

Requirements

• Ability to lead and direct others.
• Retail produce experience preferred.
• Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to comply with company policy.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use computers and other communication systems required for job functions.
• Lift up to 50 lb. at least 80% of the time and 75 lb. occasionally.
• Reach to shoulder level or above while lifting 30 lbs. on occasion.
• Stand and walk 100% of the time.
• Meet established volume activity standards for the department.
• Frequent bending, reaching, grasping, and lifting produce items at or above waist level.
• Use hands to feel objects, open boxes/cases, or prepare and clean produce.
• Handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging, and food products.
• Tolerate working in cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Pay

Salary range is between $17.35 - $24.75 per hour.
