The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications while delivering exceptional patient care in a retail pharmacy setting. This role manages pharmacy staff, provides prescription verification, medication counseling, immunization services, and supports health and wellness initiatives. The Pharmacist works closely with pharmacy technicians, store leadership, and healthcare providers to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, uphold company standards, and promote a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and verify prescriptions, prevent drug interactions, and oversee pharmacy workflow.
  • Resolve insurance issues and address customer and patient concerns.
  • Ensure all pharmacy associates provide best-in-class customer service and healthcare.
  • Manage controllables to improve P&L performance, inventory, and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws, HIPAA, OSHA, and DEA regulations.
  • Lead and develop pharmacy staff, including coaching, training, and evaluating pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Delegate effectively and manage schedules, roles, and workload distribution.
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations, prescription fulfillment, and quality controls.
  • Optimize processes for efficiency, accuracy, and service levels.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement continuous improvements.
  • Manage ordering, stock levels, shrink control, and waste reduction.
  • Monitor budgets, reimbursement processes, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure formulary compliance and proper handling of high-cost medications.
  • Provide expert counseling, Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services, and immunization support.
  • Handle escalations and ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
  • Build strong relationships with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Engage in patient education and support and grow vaccination and clinical service programs both inside the store and in the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of employment.
  • Immunization certification (e.g., APhA or state-recognized equivalent).
  • Medication Therapy Management (MTM) certification where applicable.
  • 2-5+ years of retail pharmacy experience (preferred).
  • Previous experience as a Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacist-in-Charge, or Lead Pharmacist.
  • Proven experience supervising pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.
  • Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA, and controlled substance laws.
  • Experience in inventory management, budgeting, and workflow optimization.
  • Familiarity with third-party insurance processing and reimbursement practices.

Pay

Salary range is between $101,920.00 and $127,400.00.

Store location: 38069 Town Center Drive, Millville, DE.
