About the Role

Responsibilities

• Interact with co-workers, patients, their families, and other staff consistent with Jefferson’s values.

• Partner with patients and their designated care partners to identify learning needs and provide education in accessible, affirming ways.

• Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors, and support ethical decision-making.
• Monitor care outcomes using data and implement improvement methods to enhance quality and safety.
• Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.
• Provide safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on respect for patient preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural values.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (specialized diploma required).
• Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, including collaboration in care planning.
• Cultural awareness and ability to connect effectively with diverse backgrounds.
• Effective communication skills, including the use of partnership language with patients and families.
• Ability to assess patient ailments, implement treatment plans, and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Knowledge of child and adult education techniques for patient and care partner education.
• Proficiency in medication administration and prescription for continuing treatment.
• Skills in discharge planning, including developing plans and arranging follow-up care.
• Competence in patient assessment, diagnosis, and clinical judgment using available tools and techniques.
• Ability to document health information accurately in written or electronic form.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of Pennsylvania.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of BSN/advanced degree within 3 years of hire strongly preferred.
• 1 year of previous RN experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
