ADUSA Distribution is the distribution company of Ahold Delhaize USA, providing distribution services to one of the largest grocery retail supply chains in the nation. Our facilities handle a mix of product types, including fresh, frozen, grocery, and health and beauty care items. The team supports the supply chain network evolution to an integrated self-distribution model, serving leading omnichannel grocery brands: Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford, and Stop & Shop.

About the role

As Maintenance Mechanic B, you will perform maintenance tasks and work orders on all assigned facilities and equipment both inside and outside the facility. You will complete facilities and equipment repairs, reflecting some variety and complexity based on expected proficiencies. The role requires basic skills across all areas to perform work with occasional assistance from Mechanic A.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all equipment and facilities operate effectively and efficiently to support operations; ensure compliance with standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out duties productively and learn skills through training and job shadowing.
• Enter work into the computer maintenance system to track repairs and previous work performed on equipment.
• Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment and systems.
• Safely shut down systems and equipment while meeting all standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot and assist other mechanics with systems and equipment.
• Meet evaluation standards on work orders and observations by management to assess skill level and proficiency.
• Provide guidance and training to Maintenance Support Associates.
• Remain proficient in maintenance trade and stay current with technology through training courses.
• Recommend modifications to procedures or processes to maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in accuracy, safety, and productivity.
• Perform work at minimal skill levels in safety, electrical, electronics, refrigeration, material handling, mechanical, welding, fire systems, and domestic water/waste water (where applicable).
• Follow good sanitation practices; keep work area clean and free of debris.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Successful completion of assessment evaluation to demonstrate experience and proficiency in assigned tasks.
• Minimal experience, expertise, and proficiency in one or more of the following areas (based on assessment by manager):
  • Safety
  • Electrical
  • Refrigeration
  • Material Handling
  • Mechanical
  • Welding
  • Fire Systems
  • Domestic Water/Waste Water
• Must supply own tools.

Qualifications

• Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Dexterity with both hands.
• Knowledge and understanding of schematic/blueprint documents.
• Ability to reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to and including 80 lbs.
• Ability to communicate and complete required record-keeping functions.
• Ability to work the needed schedule with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a -5°F to 90°F+ environment for long periods.
• Able to perform work in difficult body positions and environmental conditions.
• Work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (e.g., cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks).
• Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers.
• Able to work in a team environment.
• Able to learn more complex tasks over time.
• Able to provide guidance and coordination with operation and maintenance staff.

Preferred Requirements

• Prior experience in mechanical areas.
• Certification on powered industrial equipment where applicable.
• Familiarity/experience in a maintenance environment.
