FT Fitness Instructor

Presbyterian Homes & Services is seeking a Fitness Instructor to lead, instruct, and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities at assigned locations. This role may include aquatic exercise activities if aquatic facilities are available on the assigned campus. The Fitness Instructor collaborates with the Fitness Director to develop curriculum and lesson plans that address participant wellness objectives.

This position supports Norris Square and requires 30-36 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct professional classes in balance, strengthening, flexibility, endurance, and other beneficial topics for Fitness Center participants.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum and schedule of classes in cooperation with the Fitness Director to meet participant needs and provide variety and frequency based on regulations and best practices.
  • Supervise open swim to monitor pool utilization and ensure participant safety (sites with aquatic facilities only).
  • Administer standardized assessments uniformly.
  • Educate and communicate with residents and caregivers on interventions and programs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean fitness area and equipment.
  • Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation during fitness activities when applicable.
  • Complete accurate, legible, and timely documentation supporting services provided.
  • Accurately capture and bill for services provided according to company policies and procedures.
  • Manage schedule to meet resident needs and adapt to changes in the department/organization.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in the fitness industry preferred.
  • Current nationally recognized CPR certification.
  • Current Personal Training Certification.
  • Current Group Fitness Certification.
  • Ability to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, guests, families, and employees at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel to other PHS communities.
  • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS’s mission and operating philosophies.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to communicate with all customers.

Pay

The estimated starting pay range for this role is $22.48 - $27.67 per hour. Actual pay depends on individual qualifications and market conditions.
