Ft Faculty, Child Development (Tenure Track)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional materials for Early Childhood Education students and professionals.
• Develop a course syllabus and utilize student-learning outcomes to guide course instruction.
• Record and submit grades electronically using the college’s database.
• Utilize instructional technology.
• Navigate and make use of a Learning Management System (LMS) to support classroom instruction.
• Complete office hours to guide and offer instructional support to ECE students.
• Administer programmatic evaluations.
• Audit student learning and utilize data to make instructional decisions.
• Attend departmental/college-wide meetings.
• Complete all mandatory midterm/final grading and active pursuit certifications required by the college.
• Instruct in a college environment, specifically within a program with a specialized accreditation.
• Syllabi construction (from a master syllabus template).
• Create authentic hands-on learning opportunities for students.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Teaching, Education, or a degree in a related field.
• Illinois PEL License (preferred but not required).
• Strong knowledge of formative and summative assessments and the role it plays in the teaching and learning environment.
• Time Management and Task Management Skills.
• Prior teaching experience in ECE.
• Experience in a higher education environment, teaching adult learners.
• Familiarity with NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
• Familiarity with Illinois Gateways.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to equity in the classroom.
• Knowledge of instructional technology such as Brightspace or other learning management platforms preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary range: $58,000 to $65,000 annually.
