FT Deli Bakery Sales Manager (Full availability required)

Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
• Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and the coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations.
• Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
• Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
• Smile and maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, easy, flexible and friendly customer service, creating a positive shopping experience.
• Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use department product knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations.
• Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment.
• Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems.
• Utilize the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS).
• Perform duties that ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety and sanitation are consistently maintained.
• Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written to provide extraordinary customer service at all times, created every other week.
• Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with policies and guidelines.
• Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations; record and report all associate and customer accidents per Food Lion procedures.
• Monitor shrink, ensure inventory is accounted for, and coach associates to recognize and prevent losses.
• Ensure all advertising and sales promotion materials applicable to the Deli Bakery HMS are properly utilized.
• Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices.
• Maintain security standards.
• Maintain a neat, well‑groomed personal appearance at all times; comply with company dress code and personal appearance guidelines.
• Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses.
• Meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to lead and manage a team.
• Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred.
• Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or a similar accrediting organization as a “Certified Food Safety Manager,” or be willing to attend company‑provided training and achieve accreditation within the first 90 days; accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring it.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.
• Ability to push or pull up to 2,000 lb using a pallet jack.
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lb continuously, 25 lb frequently, and 50 lb on occasion.
• Pull or push up to 75 lb on occasion.
• Stand 100 % of the time with frequent short‑distance walking.
• Handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning, packaging materials, and household cleaners.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.
• Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
• Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
• Have sufficient visual ability to read checks, invoices and other written documents.
