FT Deli Bakery Sales Associate

About the Role

Provide quality customer service within the Deli Bakery Department at Food Lion, a grocery retailer serving over 10 million customers weekly across 10 states. This role focuses on maintaining operational standards, maximizing sales through excellent customer service, and minimizing shrink through proper procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Follow all technical manuals for product processing, label placement, and merchandising.
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise align with company policies.
• Maintain proper sanitation of the department, equipment, and food handling/preparation.
• Utilize company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering (CAO).
• Adhere to Food Lion guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions; report accidents per established procedures.
• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform and maintain a neat, clean appearance.
• Complete required training (Computer Based Training, Training Packet, and Training Aid courses).
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Problem-solving skills using technical information.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Requirements

• Use computers and communication systems to perform job functions.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Stand 100% of the time with frequent short-distance walking.
• Handle cleaning and packaging materials.
• Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder or below waist.
• Meet volume activity standards for the position.
• Tolerate extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
