About the Role

The Security Officer is part of a highly professional team of safety, security, and medical providers and is encouraged to contribute their knowledge and skill sets for the benefit of the community and department. This role is responsible for the safety and well-being of all members, guests, and employees at the Club, deterring, detecting, and responding to potential or active threats. The Security Officer must act within the guidelines set forth by the Club Security Department policy while creating the Discovery Land Company experience for members and employees.

This role will be located at Atlantic Fields, outside of Hobe Sound, FL. Both full-time, year-round and part-time, year-round positions are available.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure residential and working environment for all members, guests, and employees by identifying, treating, and reducing threats and workplace risks.
• Conduct quarterly proficiency and development training, including firearm qualification, tactics training, and monthly sustainment training.
• Maintain training standards for Use of Force knowledge and application, firearm application, defensive tactics, mechanical restraints, search procedures, expandable batons, OC spray, crisis management, and emergency response.
• Conduct seamless entry for all authorized individuals onto the property.
• Prevent unauthorized access to the property and use of its facilities.
• Provide medical response capability to members, guests, and employees while on club property.
• Investigate and respond to significant incidents or those requested by the Security Operation Center (SOC).
• Provide emergency management advice in the event of a natural disaster.
• Adhere to all company service and operating standards.
• Remain in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Enforce the club’s health and safety policies for all members, guests, and employees.
• Maintain a personal “concierge” security approach for all members, guests, and employees while on property.
• Become versed in Use of Force application as dictated by the company’s policy.
• Effectively manage Use of Force incidents, limiting liability, minimizing disruptions, and preventing injuries.

Requirements

• Prior experience in Armed Security, Law Enforcement, or Military (4 years minimum).
• Prior experience and training with relevant firearms and defensive tactics.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Valid D & G License.
• Clear criminal background.
• High school diploma, GED, or higher education.
• Ability to work and stand inside/outside during all weather conditions.
• Able to physically restrain individuals when necessary.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with a working knowledge of basic computer functions and programs (Word, Excel, Outlook Email, etc.).
• Ability to work calmly and efficiently in high-stress situations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and stay calm during busy times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including working indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions, standing/walking for periods greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting/carrying items over fifty (50) pounds.
• Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects in a fast-paced environment.
