Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain paperwork related to quality, food standards, and regulatory program compliance (USDA/FDA), including HACCP plans, SQF audits, food defense programs, GMP programs, and customer-specific documentation.
  • Work with regulatory agencies during non-conformance situations, escalate issues to plant leadership, and support investigations to execute corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review USDA packets, release USDA product, and complete all associated internal documentation.
  • Participate in internal facility and corporate audits, as well as external audits (third-party, regulatory, or customer audits) as requested by the QFSE Manager.
  • Conduct or participate in consumer complaint investigations and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
  • Create, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), SSOPs, One Point Lessons, work instructions, forms, records, and other documents for easy retrieval.
  • Support QFSE initiatives, including participation on the Food Defense Team, daily sensory panels, and new employee orientation, training, and onboarding.
  • Perform environmental sampling (swabbing, air sampling, water sampling), document and ship samples, record results, and determine corrective actions through root cause analysis.
  • Provide support for Quality Technicians, including coverage for off-shifts, holidays, or weekends, and serve as backup to the Quality Supervisor or Manager as needed.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a food manufacturing plant environment.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, GMPs, food safety, statistics, and laboratory techniques, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective listening and communication.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Ability to maintain external and internal confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and write reports, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Minimal travel required.
