About the Role

The Frozen Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Frozen Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, strong in-stock conditions, effective merchandising, inventory accuracy, and adherence to company standards. This position provides leadership to department associates, maintains product quality and food safety standards, and assists in achieving department sales, shrink, and labor goals.

Responsibilities

  • Department Operations
    • Oversee day-to-day activities within the Frozen Department.
    • Ensure shelves, cases, and displays are fully stocked, organized, and attractively merchandised.
    • Monitor product rotation, code dating, and freshness standards.
    • Maintain proper inventory levels through effective ordering and replenishment practices.
    • Ensure department cleanliness and organization meet company expectations.
    • Support promotional events, seasonal programs, and merchandising initiatives.
  • Customer Service
    • Deliver outstanding customer service and create a positive shopping experience.
    • Assist customers with product selection, special requests, and inquiries.
    • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Promote a customer-first culture among department associates.
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Provide daily direction and support to department associates.
    • Assist with training, coaching, and development of team members.
    • Communicate department goals, priorities, and operational expectations.
    • Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
    • Lead by example through professional behavior and strong work performance.
  • Inventory & Merchandising
    • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to minimize out-of-stocks and excess inventory.
    • Ensure accurate receiving, stocking, and product handling procedures.
    • Verify pricing, signage, and promotional displays for accuracy.
    • Identify opportunities to improve sales through merchandising and product presentation.
  • Food Safety & Compliance
    • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
    • Ensure frozen products are stored and displayed at required temperatures.
    • Follow company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Support department readiness for inspections and audits.
  • Financial Performance
    • Assist in achieving department sales, profitability, labor, and shrink goals.
    • Monitor product losses and support shrink reduction efforts.
    • Help identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and department performance.
    • Review department metrics and support action plans for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Preferred Experience
    • Previous grocery retail, frozen food, or merchandising experience preferred.
    • Prior leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of inventory management and retail operations preferred.
  • Knowledge & Skills
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
    • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of merchandising and inventory control practices.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, squatting, and stocking activities.
    • Ability to work in cold and freezer environments for extended periods.
    • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, carts, and related equipment.
