Frontend Engineer (Remote US Only)

About the Role

Svix is seeking a hands-on Backend Tech Lead to help scale its product and strengthen engineering team performance. This fully remote role combines backend software development with technical leadership, architecture and technical decision-making, engineer mentorship, and developer experience improvements. The ideal candidate will have experience building and supporting high-scale backend systems, strong technical leadership capabilities, and familiarity with Rust, Postgres, and Redis. This is an opportunity to make high-impact technical decisions and help shape the future of server communication within a fast-growing technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead technical initiatives focused on backend scalability, reliability, and product performance. * Remain hands-on with backend software development and contribute to production code. * Make impactful technical and architectural decisions for backend systems. * Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. * Help improve engineering team performance and development practices. * Support a seamless developer experience across engineering workflows and tooling. * Design and improve high-scale backend systems and services. * Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges. * Contribute to an Agile engineering environment and continuous improvement initiatives. * Help establish and maintain scalable, maintainable, and reliable backend solutions.

Required Qualifications

* Experience working with high-scale backend systems. * Strong hands-on backend software engineering experience. * Proven technical leadership experience. * Ability to make effective technical and architectural decisions. * Experience mentoring and guiding software engineers. * Strong problem-solving skills and engineering judgment. * Experience working in an Agile development environment. * Familiarity with Rust, Postgres, and Redis.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience scaling backend products or distributed systems. * Experience improving developer experience and engineering workflows. * Experience working in a fast-growing technology startup. * Strong background in server communication or related backend infrastructure.
