Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest quality of service to guests at all times
  • Anticipate and exceed guest expectations
  • Assign specific duties to staff for efficient operation of department
  • Assist in training new associates and cross-training existing associates
  • Assist in interviewing and hiring new associates for the department
  • Promote teamwork and associate morale
  • Treat people with respect
  • Recognize associate successes
  • Have a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and ensure staff responds appropriately in the event of an emergency
  • Assist Emergency Response Team as necessary
  • Know location and use of fire extinguishers
  • Maintain current list of available rooms for walk situations
  • Coordinate blocking of rooms
  • Check printed registration cards against information on arrival report and rectify any discrepancies
  • Ensure prompt and courteous service to guests
  • Pre-register guests according to standards
  • Complete and monitor employee schedule
  • Monitor VIP arrivals
  • Notify Maintenance Department of any maintenance issues
  • Keep track of rooms to ensure accurate status and readiness for check-in
  • Hire, coach, and discipline direct reports
  • Interact positively and professionally with guests to resolve issues
  • Demonstrate knowledge of EEO policy, Fair Employment Practices, and Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Promote a harassment-free work environment
  • Act as Manager on Duty as required
  • Work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary
  • Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of hotel Front Desk operations
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures
  • Ability to promote teamwork and associate morale

Education and Experience

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. In-depth knowledge of hotel Front Desk operations is preferred. Basic math skills are essential. Strong leadership skills and the ability to exceed guest and team member expectations are required.
