Job Summary
The Front Office Manager is responsible for management and administration of front desk functions for the Downtown Adult Hematology Oncology (AHO) Department at the Upstate Cancer Center. This includes oversight and supervision of check-in, check-out, scheduling, and telephone staff and workflows. Supervision includes orientation of new staff, completing performance programs and evaluations, setting staffing schedules including coordination of vacation and sick leave coverage, holding staff meetings, and evaluating staffing needs.
Responsibilities
- Oversight and supervision of check-in, check-out, scheduling, and telephone staff and workflows
- Orientation of new staff, completing performance programs and evaluations, setting staffing schedules, coordinating vacation and sick leave coverage, holding staff meetings, and evaluating staffing needs
- Building and editing clinic templates, preparing behavioral agreements and discharges according to policy, resolving day-to-day front end issues in collaboration with other managers and staff as needed
- Ensuring efficient and timely flow of patients through the AHO Office in collaboration with physicians, Fellows, APPs, nursing, MOAs, pharmacy staff, back office staff, and administrative leadership
- Supporting the development of and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures relevant to Front Office functions, as well as assisting with long range planning and operational improvements
- Working effectively with external departments including Lab, Registration, Radiology, Pharmacy, Physical Plant, Environmental Services
- Identifying and acting on opportunities for operational and quality improvement initiatives with patient experience in mind while cultivating a positive environment for the department
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field with 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting OR Associates Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field and 5 years experience in a healthcare setting required
- Two years of supervisory or mentorship experience required
Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience working with electronic medical records
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in front desk and scheduling functions in a cancer care setting preferred
