Front End UI Developer / Accessibility Expert

About the Role

We are seeking a Front-End UI Developer with deep expertise in accessibility to join our team in Des Moines, Iowa. This role requires a strong foundation in semantic markup, modern CSS, and proven experience implementing WCAG standards.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, semantic HTML5 and responsive CSS/SASS.
• Implement and maintain WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards, including ARIA landmarks, attributes, and screen-reader compatibility.
• Resolve color contrast, keyboard navigation, and focus management issues.
• Integrate front-end assets into Angular or MVC .NET environments.
• Conduct screen reader testing (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and automated accessibility audits (axe DevTools, WAVE).
• Communicate frontend engineering concepts, WCAG requirements, and technical standards to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in semantic HTML5 and modern, responsive CSS/SASS.
• Proven experience implementing WCAG standards, managing ARIA attributes, and resolving accessibility issues.
• Ability to integrate front-end assets into Angular or MVC .NET frameworks.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with established design systems or wrapper components.
• Direct experience utilizing or extending the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
• Foundational understanding of user experience (UX) principles and design workflows.
