About the Role

The Software Engineer II - Front End role is a vital individual contributor position within Ad Hoc's collaborative engineering teams. Reporting to leadership, you will support the delivery of high-quality, scalable front-end applications aligned with project scope and schedules. This role involves working closely with stakeholders, including UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and QA teams, to develop, test, and deploy user-facing features. You will gain exposure to federal design standards and automated testing frameworks, contributing to the continuous improvement of digital services for government agencies. Your work will directly impact the accessibility, usability, and reliability of critical public-sector applications, making a meaningful difference in users' lives.

This position offers the opportunity to participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous delivery and improvement. You will also contribute to maintaining and developing components within the Design System, ensuring consistency and adherence to federal accessibility standards. Support on-call rotations and cross-functional pairing will help expand your technical expertise and understanding of federal digital service frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain user-facing applications utilizing Angular, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript, translating Figma designs into functional components
• Create and sustain automated UI tests using Selenium, Cypress, or similar tools to ensure robust test coverage
• Ensure frontend implementations meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards in collaboration with UX and accessibility teams
• Debug, optimize, and monitor applications across test and production environments, contributing to CI/CD pipelines
• Participate in peer code reviews, adhering to best practices and the four-eyes principle for quality assurance
• Collaborate with backend developers, UX designers, and QA to deliver complete features from story refinement to deployment
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of Design System components to ensure consistency across applications
• Support on-call rotations and develop cross-functional knowledge through paired programming and team collaboration
• Engage in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives to foster continuous improvement

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent additional experience
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular for modern web application development
• Experience implementing UI designs from Figma or similar design tools
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and their application in frontend development
• Experience working within CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git or GitLab
• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, QA, and design teams in an agile environment
• Must meet federal suitability requirements and pass a background investigation

Pay

The starting salary range for this role is $95,000 to $110,000, influenced by experience, skill set, and responsibilities.
