Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Understand and adhere to the POS system and various tender types.
  • Report pricing discrepancies and adhere to company policies.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay current with store promotions and adhere to food safety regulations.
  • Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment issues.
  • Engage with customers, answer product-related questions, and make them feel welcome.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.

Requirements

  • Minimum customer service experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
  • Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk (desired).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
  • Ability to comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
  • Ability to work with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
