Responsibilities
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service.
- Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Understand and adhere to the POS system and various tender types.
- Report pricing discrepancies and adhere to company policies.
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with store promotions and adhere to food safety regulations.
- Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment issues.
- Engage with customers, answer product-related questions, and make them feel welcome.
- Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
Requirements
- Minimum customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk (desired).
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Knowledge of restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Ability to comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Ability to work with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
