Front Door Waste Technician-Cortland Sunbury Ridge

About the Role

As the Front Door Waste Technician at Cortland's Sunbury Ridge community in Columbus, you ensure valet trash service remains seamless and unnoticed by residents—consistently completing routes, maintaining clean common areas, and addressing waste issues before they become problems.

Responsibilities

• Walk the property each shift to collect waste bags from resident doorsteps, transferring them into leak-proof carts and designated disposal vehicles.
• Cover the full community route, including stairwells, and clear trash from dog waste stations, pool areas, mail kiosks, parking lots, and other shared spaces.
• Address spills or debris near compactors to prevent larger issues.
• Flag and handle prohibited or improperly disposed waste according to company protocol.
• Document work via a mobile app, logging start/end times and capturing photos as needed.
• Maintain productivity standards by completing routes efficiently and on schedule.
• Interact professionally with residents, leasing staff, and management during shifts.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in waste services or a customer-facing role.
• Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations related to waste handling.
• Physical ability to climb stairs, walk extended distances, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort working outdoors in variable weather and tolerating strong odors.
• Valid Class E driver’s license with ability to drive locally as needed.
• Personal smartphone (Android 2.2+ or iPhone iOS 4.3+) with an active data plan for app-based reporting.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Bilingual ability is a plus.
