About the role

Ascent Hospitality is looking for a uniquely qualified hospitality leader to serve as a Front Desk Attendant. This role focuses on delivering memorable experiences for guests and team members, with responsibilities including guest service, revenue generation through upselling, and ensuring guest satisfaction while adhering to security and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional dress and conduct at all times.
  • Greet guests immediately with a friendly, sincere welcome; use positive, clear communication and maintain eye contact.
  • Follow Brand standards, including loyalty programs, and provide information about the hotel, rooms, rates, and amenities.
  • Employ operational and selling techniques to maximize occupancy and achieve the highest average rate possible.
  • Complete registration processes, including inputting/retrieving information from the computer, confirming guest details, and selecting rooms based on guest needs.
  • Close out guest accounts at checkout, verify payment methods, and ensure I.D. matches the payment method.
  • Handle cash, make change, balance assigned cash bank, and process payments per established procedures.
  • Maintain cash bank per policy guidelines and comply with all accounting procedures.
  • Adhere to uniform, grooming, and appearance standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with all hotel departments and stay aware of operational issues.
  • Communicate with housekeeping to ensure rooms are ready for check-in and departures are cleared by checkout time.
  • Confirm group reservations and arrange personalized experiences for guests and event attendees (e.g., wedding guests).
  • Maintain knowledge of company policies and standards, including travel planning websites like Booking and TripAdvisor.
  • Adhere to safety, security, and emergency procedures; react appropriately during emergencies and correct hazards promptly.
  • Follow security procedures for guest room keys, protect guest information, and conduct weekly key inventories.
  • Operate front office telephone and computer systems; answer calls promptly with a positive tone.
  • Respond to guest complaints professionally and escalate unresolved issues to management.
  • Work flexible hours/schedules and perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a hotel Front Desk Agent preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently and communicate with guests and team members.
  • Familiarity with computers and office equipment (e.g., copier, printer, fax, telephone).
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in standardized and variable situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and without constant supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Six (6) months of related experience in hotels or customer service training preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Physical Demands

  • Stand for long periods; use arms, hands, and legs repetitively; handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently walk, climb, balance, talk, and hear; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Effectively use close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
