About the role
The Friday Enrichment Tutor position at Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction (ACAGJ) is open for the 2026-27 school year. ACAGJ is a public charter school serving students in Kindergarten through 9th grade.
Essential Functions
- Support the Friday Enrichment Program by providing a safe, structured, and positive environment for students.
- Aid students with homework completion, organization, and academic support as needed.
- Supervise student activities, including indoor and outdoor play periods, while maintaining student safety.
- Encourage positive peer relationships and help students practice appropriate social skills.
- Model the school's core virtues, professionalism, and respectful behavior at all times.
- Follow all school safety procedures, policies, and expectations for student supervision.
- Communicate appropriately and professionally with students, parents, and staff members.
- Assist with maintaining an orderly and clean learning environment.
- Support classroom and enrichment activities as directed by the Aftercare Coordinator.
- Attend required training and meetings as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the school and enrichment program.

- Experience working with children preferred.

- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of required background check in accordance with state law and Colorado Department of Education requirements.
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.

- Ability to move throughout classrooms, hallways, and school facilities.
- Ability to supervise students during outdoor recess periods for up to 40 minutes outdoors.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and engage with students throughout the work period.
Mandatory Background Checks
All candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which includes reviewing criminal records and requires fingerprinting. Certain findings may disqualify a candidate from employment in a school setting. These may include, but are not limited to: Convictions for violent crimes, offenses against children, drug-related offenses, and certain felony convictions.
