Fresh Foods Clerk

Job Summary

Aid customers with over-the-counter service and customer interactions within the Fresh Foods department. Manage production areas like Deli, Seafood, and Pizza, prepare food items, stock inventory, and maintain cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers, take orders, answer questions, and suggest additional purchases
• Prepare, stock, and display food items in designated areas
• Handle frozen products, inspect and prepare food items according to recipes and safety procedures
• Clean and maintain department equipment, including washing and sanitizing
• Receive and verify inventory, order supplies as needed
• Follow food safety guidelines and complete associated documentation
• Perform other related tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Effective communication skills, including hearing and speaking
• Visual inspection and reading of production guides, recipes, and product labels
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, lift up to 50 lbs., and handle refrigerated goods
• Wear personal protective equipment and handle cleaning chemicals
• Complete training courses and meet productivity and accuracy standards
• Food Handlers Certification (per state laws)
• Operate machines and equipment including cash registers, film over wrappers, digital scales, knives, slicers, deep fryers, ovens, oil filtering machines, dishwashers, trash compactors, cardboard bails, hand and pallet jacks, conveyor ovens, etc.
