French Teacher Substitute
Strongly prefer residents of Indiana. May consider residents in Eastern Time Zone. Start date is immediate; this is a contract/temporary hourly position.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly qualified, state-certified remote Substitute French Teacher for our High School campus. In this role, you will deliver specific course content in an online environment, providing instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process and focusing on students’ individual needs. You will monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system and work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals. While this is primarily a work-from-home position, occasional travel may be required for school functions such as state testing.

Responsibilities
- Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
- Personalize learning for all students and maintain a belief in their ability to succeed and meet high expectations.
- Differentiate instruction based on student level of mastery.
- Augment course content using prescribed policies and procedures with appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools, under guidance from principal and coach.
- Maintain grade book, ensure student academic integrity, make student placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families; communicate regularly and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner.
- Support learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues and basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment.
- Travel as required (on average once per month and/or up to 20% of the time) for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and other school-related functions.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data to drive instructional decisions.
- Receive coaching regularly from administrators and teacher trainers and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
- Rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
Requirements
- Ability to clear a required background check.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications
- Experience working with high school-age students.
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environment.
- Experience with online learning platforms.
Schedule
This is a full-time remote position requiring the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week. Must maintain a professional home office without distraction during work hours, generally 9 AM–5 PM (or 8 AM–4 PM) or as defined by the school.
Pay
Hourly rate around $21.
