About the Role
York Prep School seeks a passionate and knowledgeable French Teacher to teach up to four sections of High School French across grades 9-12. Reporting to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Humanities, the successful candidate will create engaging lessons that develop students' fluency, confidence, and appreciation of French language and culture. Responsibilities include designing and delivering a balanced curriculum that covers grammar, vocabulary, speaking practice, and cultural studies, with an emphasis on social justice and identity. Beyond the classroom, the role involves contributing to the school's wider life through faculty responsibilities and participating in student activities like advising clubs, coaching sports, facilitating Scholars classes, or supporting extracurricular opportunities. Collaboration with colleagues is key to fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
Who We Are Looking For
- A bachelor's degree in French, French Education, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- Strong knowledge of current world language teaching methodologies.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Experience differentiating instruction to support diverse learners.
- Confidence using educational technology and assessment data to inform teaching.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy.
