Freight Packager - Shipping/Receiving
Position Overview
Prepares products for shipment from a warehouse, including picking items, inspecting them, and packing them for transport, ensuring items are properly protected and labeled for distribution.
Position Responsibilities
- Prepares large, palletized Freight for shipment. Including Banding shrink wrap.
- Box and foam midsized items for freight shipment.
- Packaging for all web stock Builds.
- Responsible for Shipping supply inventory needed to complete packaging: (banding, Wood for pallet, Tape, Shrink-wrap, all items needed to complete packaging, etc.)
- Build Pallets when needed.
- Mark all weights and dims on completed Packaged units.
- Forklift and Crane use when necessary.
- Loading trucks
- Cleaning, organization and making sure all Battery-operated items are charged.
- Responsible for offloading, visual inspection, and signing of BOL/delivery receipt of receivables. Visual inspection for any shipping damage which needs to be marked on delivery receipt before signing and returning to driver.
- When all tasks are completed, actively seek new assignments from Logistics Coordinator or management.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Warehouse 2 years (preferred)
- Shipping or receiving 1 year (preferred)
- Comfortable operating a computer and utilizing a variety of programs.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Work independently.
- Work as part of a team.
- Time management skills
- Previous experience with forklift preferred.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods, up to 8 or more hours per shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to safely lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and repetitive use of the hands and arms to perform job duties.
- Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing equipment safely and effectively.
- Requires sufficient visual acuity to inspect parts, read work instructions, and perform quality checks.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, moving machinery, varying temperatures, and other industrial conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
