Freight Handler

Position Overview: Responsible for transporting freight within the dock area to and from trailers for loading and unloading, ensuring safe and efficient handling of cargo. Key Responsibilities Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks for freight handling.Verify freight documentation for accuracy, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and ropes, and repair damaged cargo when needed.Complete required documentation and assist with freight-related inquiries from customers.Perform hostling duties if required, ensuring proper trailer movement.Comply with all legal regulations and company policies, maintaining safety standards.Assist with other duties as assigned, working independently or as part of a team. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight, and open trailer doors requiring physical effort.Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Previous dock or warehouse experience is advantageous. Working Conditions: Dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, and noise, requiring physical activity such as bending, twisting, and lifting.
