Freight Handler

About the role

Package and process small orders, including will calls, FedEx, and UPS shipments. Maintain shipping records with tracking and shipping history information. Audit pending orders for on-time shipping, assist the Shipping Clerk with freight processing, and serve as backup in their absence. Uphold professional relationships with staff, customers, and logistics providers. Perform other assigned tasks. Daytime role requiring lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods. Stand-up reach truck experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Package all small orders.
• Process paperwork for small packages, will calls, FedEx, and UPS shipments.
• Maintain shipping records and provide tracking and/or shipping history information.
• Audit waiting-to-ship orders for on-time shipping.
• Assist the Shipping Clerk with other freight processing tasks.
• Act as backup for the Shipping Clerk when needed.
• Create Bills of Lading for LTL Truckloads and load trailers.
• Follow instructions on sales and work orders.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
• Adapt to change and new situations as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Adherence to safety policies and maintenance of a safe workstation.
• Sense of responsibility and accountability.
• Strong work ethic and dependability.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Computer proficiency.
• Ability to read, speak, and write English and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Attention to detail and precision in work.
• Availability to work overtime hours.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday: 2:00 PM – 2:00 AM.
• Overtime may extend shifts to 10–12 hours.
• Occasional Saturday work required.
