Freight Broker

About the role

As a Freight Broker for Pyle, you will develop skills in prospecting, relationship management, negotiation, communication, and teamwork. You will serve as a liaison between shippers and carriers to secure the transportation of products.

Responsibilities

• Generate leads, prospect potential customers, and develop a sales pipeline
• Make cold calls, warm lead calls, and closing calls on customers
• Negotiate market-level pricing with customers
• Handle all data entry points for shipments, including scheduling
• Develop and manage truckload carriers who embody a service-first approach
• Negotiate market-level pricing with carriers
• Select carriers for shipments who can deliver safely, on-time, and damage-free
• Build multi-level relationships with customers and carriers
• Ensure timely pickup, tracking, delivery, documentation, and invoicing for customers and carriers
• Collaborate with claims and finance during exception management

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or relevant service-related work experience
• Demonstrated positive attitude; team-first mindset
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with customers and suppliers
• Growth-oriented, motivated, and sense of urgency
• Strong communication skills; proficiency in MS Office

Skills

The following skillsets are preferred but not required:

• Understanding of DAT, other load boards, or additional pricing technologies
• Basic understanding of how lanes fluctuate based upon seasonality and external events
