About the role
The field photographer will work closely with Hollywood Reel Time operations, management, on-air reporters, and other newsroom personnel to gather high-quality and informative news and entertainment stories. The ideal candidate will adhere to the highest journalistic standards and work on other station projects as assigned, while following company safety and operational policies.
Responsibilities
- Operate ENG field equipment and digital video workflows (FTP, Bonded-Cellular, IP connectivity).
- Safely operate microwave trucks and other vehicles.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions with a high degree of self-sufficiency.
- Lift equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Capture informative and reliable newsgathering pictures and audio for broadcast.
- Collaborate efficiently under daily and deadline pressure within a fast-paced, multicultural broadcast environment.
- Solve technical issues in the field.
- Work weekends, longer hours, or varying shifts to meet production and broadcast deadlines.
Requirements
- Fully knowledgeable in all aspects of ENG field operations.
- Proficient with Edius, Dalet, and Adobe Premiere.
- Proficient in digital video workflows (FTP, Bonded-Cellular, and/or IP connectivity).
- Ability to operate a microwave truck and other vehicles safely.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and creative in storytelling with sound and images.
- Must be willing to work in Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
- This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement with NABET; successful candidates must join and remain in good standing with the union.
- Must be 18 years of age with unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in news camera/field photography.
- Degree in broadcast journalism/production (desired).
- Exceptional knowledge of navigating the internet and working with computers and digital equipment.
- Ability to work independently and excel in a fast-paced, multicultural broadcast environment.
Pay
$29.02/hr to $61.44/hr
This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite in Los Angeles.
