Position Overview

Freedom Boat Club is currently seeking a Marine Repair Technician to join our team. This role involves managing the repair process for various marine engines and systems, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring efficient and accurate repairs.

Essential Functions

  • Perform on-site diagnostics, repairs, and component replacements on boats, including engines and electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and performance issues using technical expertise and diagnostic tools.
  • Communicate with the parts and inventory team regarding repair progress, additional parts or labor needs, and completion readiness.
  • Review work orders and vessel specifications to identify failure points, confirm root causes, and define required repairs or system corrections.
  • Execute repairs efficiently, ensuring work meets manufacturer standards and restores operational performance.
  • Maintain a clean, customer-ready condition for vessels after repair work.
  • Support cross-functional tasks such as vessel movement and repair-related administrative activities.
  • Participate in required training and team meetings to stay updated on repair techniques and operational expectations.
  • Perform additional repair-focused duties as assigned to support operational success.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Passing a pre-employment background and drug screening.
  • Thorough understanding of marine engines and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with servicing marine engines, preferably with Mercury or similar certifications.
  • Knowledge of 12v electrical, rigging, and outboard diagnostics.
  • Ability to maneuver a boat and trailer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Positive, cooperative attitude with the capability to work unsupervised.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving boat trailers and launching/retrieving vessels.
  • Boating safety ID card.

Travel Requirements

This position requires daily travel to and from club locations.

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods driving to dock locations.
  • Prolonged periods standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling.

Pay Range

The anticipated pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
