Free Hostel Stay in Return for Volunteering (groups of 6+)
About Us
Hostelling International San Diego is a nonprofit that connects world travelers with the community of San Diego. Hostels are unique budget accommodations that promote sustainable cultural and environmental tourism. HI USA provides budget accommodations and educational programs for travelers of all ages in the US. Each of the 4,000+ hostels worldwide offers clean, safe dormitory-style sleeping rooms as well as common areas for cooking, dining, reading, and gatherings. We promote global understanding and cultural exchange through our network of hostels and programs.
Designed to bring people together, hostels have been likened to a miniature United Nations. San Diego is committed to linking the community with the rest of the world through travel workshops, educational programs in local schools, and by welcoming travelers passing through the city.
At HI USA, we believe in the power of travel to open minds and the power of community service to open hearts. Above all, we believe these experiences should be rewarding—not costly.
Great Hostel Give Back (GHGB) Program
For the sixth consecutive year, we are offering groups across the country free overnight stays at HI USA hostels in January and February through our Great Hostel Give Back (GHGB) program.
- Qualifying groups of 6 or more people receive one free night's stay (up to five nights) at an HI USA hostel for each day its members volunteer at least two hours in the community surrounding the hostel.
- HI USA’s lounges, kitchens, and dining rooms provide opportunities to connect with other travelers.
- Groups are invited to join free events, tours, and activities to meet like-minded travelers and explore hidden gems of the city.
Whether you are a service group, a college group, or just a group of friends wanting to visit somewhere new and give back to the community, apply now for the Great Hostel Give Back program and help us make the world a better place.
All groups are welcome. To apply, visit www.hiusa.org/ghgb.
