About the Role

Ensure adequate fraud and suspicious activity prevention and detection practices are employed in Fraud Risk Management to reduce the Credit Union's and members' exposure to fraud and losses. Assist in the day-to-day operations of all Fraud Risk Management functions.

Responsibilities

  • Work daily and weekly Verafin alerts and perform consumer and business behavior reviews (25%).
  • Analyze member information, prepare, and ensure FinCEN and OFAC Reports are filed in accordance with the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC time frames (25%).
  • Perform various BSA/MIP/employee account/file maintenance reviews as assigned and report issues to Management. Make recommendations to Deposit Operations and branches when member fraud is noted (25%).
  • Oversee completion of all daily/semi-monthly Verafin alerts and Verafin case management process, OFAC searches, and sampling of deposit and loan file maintenance reports.
  • Perform research and file various BSA reports.
  • Ensure adequate fraud, money laundering, and other suspicious activity monitoring, prevention, and detection practices are employed with Fraud Risk Management staff to reduce the Credit Union's and members' exposure to fraud and minimize risk of potential losses (25%).

Performance Expectations

  • Comply with government and other regulations affecting the credit union industry, including but not limited to OFAC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Meet or exceed performance expectations as described in Essential Functions and Responsibilities.

Requirements

  • One to three years of similar or related experience.
  • Education:
    • A two-year college degree, or
    • Completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or
    • Completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or
    • Job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Skills

  • Interpersonal skills involving frequent personal contact for conflict resolution, relationship-building, and soliciting cooperation, often requiring confidentiality and discretion.
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, particularly in analyzing member transactions.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to learn quickly and work effectively with others or independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in an office environment with normal exposure to safety and health hazards.
  • May periodically travel to other, similar sites.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
