About the role

The Optical Technician will play a crucial role in enhancing the Total Patient Experience, maximizing retail sales, and supporting patients' medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Execute the Total Patient Experience to build strong relationships with all patients
• Determine patient needs and exceed expectations by selling appropriate products
• Select frames based on style and color preferences, ensuring they align with facial and eye measurements and prescriptions
• Operate and use an auto-lensometer and manual lensometer to measure and fit patients
• Educate and recommend specific lenses, coatings, and frames tailored to patient needs
• Accurately collect and record measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt
• Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust frames as needed
• Dispense glasses and/or contact lens orders following established processes

Qualifications

• Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
• Minimum of 1 year in a customer-facing role or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Favorable results on background checks as required by state law
• Ability to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States

Education and/or Experience

• A high school diploma or GED is required
• ABO and NCLE certifications are preferred but not required

• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 lbs frequently
• Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands essential
• Visual and auditory acuity including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus required 100% of the time
• Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary
