Accountabilities
- Advise alternative investment firms and family offices on trading desk strategy, structure, operations, and best practices.
- Conduct assessments of trading operations and provide actionable recommendations to improve efficiency, controls, and performance.
- Develop realistic implementation plans by breaking strategic objectives into measurable and achievable initiatives.
- Advise on vendor selection, platform evaluation, trading technology, and operational oversight.
- Create and enhance trading policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and control processes.
- Support all aspects of trading desk management, including sell-side relationships, commission negotiations, trade lifecycle oversight, and personnel management.
- Develop and implement execution policies across multiple asset classes, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, exchange rules, and market standards.
- Oversee trade processes from pre-trade analysis through execution, settlement, and post-trade review.
- Provide guidance on trading positions, risk management, portfolio support, and the profitable operation of trading activities.
- Design trading architectures, broker evaluation frameworks, record-keeping processes, and performance measurement methodologies.
- Support portfolio managers with rebalancing, cash management, asset allocation, and risk oversight activities.
- Evaluate trading personnel, strategies, rotations, and performance metrics to improve desk effectiveness.
- Provide market insights and thought leadership through written and verbal communication with investment teams.
- Support special projects and other strategic initiatives based on client needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Master's degree and/or CFA designation strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience as a Head Trader, Director of Trading, or similar senior trading leadership role.
- Experience managing high-volume trading operations within alternative asset firms or family offices.
- Comprehensive understanding of global markets, exchanges, trading regulations, and risk management practices.
- Strong knowledge of best execution standards, fair allocation practices, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with order management systems (OMS), execution management systems (EMS), and transaction cost analysis (TCA) tools.
- Strong programming skills, preferably with Python, and experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Demonstrated expertise working with statistics, econometrics, and large proprietary or third-party datasets.
- Ability to analyze complex trading environments and develop practical, value-driven solutions.
- Strong communication, consulting, and stakeholder management skills.
