About the Team

The Common Hardware Group (CHG) delivers the silicon, optics, and hardware platforms for Cisco’s core Switching, Routing, and Wireless products. We design the networking hardware for Enterprises and Service Providers of various sizes, the Public Sector, and Non-Profit Organizations across the world. Cisco Silicon One (#CiscoSiliconOne) is the only unifying silicon architecture in the market that enables customers to deploy the best-of-breed silicon from Top of Rack (TOR) switches all the way through web scale data centers and across service providers, enterprise networks, and data centers with a fully unified routing and switching portfolio.

Responsibilities

You will work on cutting edge, next generation routers powering AI buildout. You will be responsible for:

  • Taking networking system requirements and mapping them into functional blocks for FPGA implementation
  • Working with the cross-functional team to address development requirements
  • Participating in validation of the system and release to manufacturing
  • Designing control path FPGAs for the various boards on the High-End Routing team (ASR8000 routers)
  • Interfacing with Diagnostics, Software, Board design, Manufacturing, and Hardware Qualification teams to ensure smooth delivery of the project
  • Writing RTL code, running simulations, addressing timing and other constraints, and generating programming files
  • Resolving system-level issues with multiple teams
  • Leading meetings, driving issues to resolution, and communicating clearly with all stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree and 7+ years of related experience or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree and 4+ years of related experience
  • FPGA or ASIC development experience from specification to production
  • Experience with Verilog/System Verilog RTL coding
  • Experience with industry-leading FPGA devices and tools
  • Good analytical skills and ability to deal with the complexity of System Hardware and Software interactions
  • Grasp of system design for a router or line card

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience with UVM and/or VMM Verification methodology
  • Experience with high-speed design debug
  • Experience with advanced microprocessor-based design
  • Low-level networking card debug experience
  • Experience with CPU-based peripherals architecture

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $154,900.00 to $225,300.00 for new hires in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation, equity, or benefits. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training.

Full salary ranges for specific locations:

  • New York City Metro Area: $154,900.00 - $259,100.00
  • Non-Metro New York State & Washington State: $136,500.00 - $228,300.00

For quota-based sales roles, the ranges include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined.

    • 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, with up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward
    • Additional paid time away for critical or emergency family issues
    • Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer
  • Annual bonuses for non-sales roles (subject to Cisco’s policies)

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of base salary, split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays:

  • 0.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota
  • 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%
  • 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%
  • Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation

For non-quota-based sales performance elements, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target.
